While some fans believe that a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC announcement could happen within the next couple of weeks, in the meantime, they will have to make do with another Spirit event that is taking place this weekend. It won’t come with any new Spirits and instead focus on characters that made their debut on the Game Boy and Game Boy Color handheld consoles.

Dubbed “Now You’re Playing With Portable Power!”, a reference to the old tagline for the NES, defeating these Spirits in battle will reward players with extra gold. The announcement shows off some of the Spirits that will be included, such as numerous Pokemon from the first two generations of games, Kirby enemies like Kracko, and characters from the Legend of Zelda Game Boy titles, including Link’s Awakening.

As for who the next playable character will be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, everyone has their own theories, with the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Devil May Cry’s Dante being popular choices.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available on Nintendo Switch.
