Unfortunately, a few days later, Taylor succumbed to his cancer and passed away. The news was shared by Taylor’s brother, Zach. While many will undoubtedly mourn the loss of this Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fan, Zach’s words were appreciative:

When the campaign began, Taylor expressed the fear that the game would launch too late for him to play it. Thankfully, this was not the case, as he was able to play it with his brother, a friend, and his mom. He was able to play it for three hours in total.

As many may agree, it’s moments like these that show the best of the gaming community. As it so happens, something similar recently occurred with a Fallout fan named Wes–a young man who has had cancer since he was 5–who was able to play Fallout 76 thanks to Bestheda. These simple wishes likely mean the world to gamers like Taylor and Wes.

When Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases in December, many will hopefully think of gamers like Chris Taylor. Our condolences go out to the friends and family of Taylor.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases December 7, 2018, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
